Our motorsport events could not take place without the support and commitment of our dedicated volunteer workforce. With a variety of different roles to suit all interests and skill sets, volunteering is a great way to get involved in our race meetings and also to help develop valuable skills and experience that can benefit your CV and employability.
Marshal
Recognisable from their orange overalls, marshals are vital to the safe and effective running of our events. Marshals perform a range of essential duties, from displaying flag signals for competitors to organising all the race cars into grid order for the start of a race. They also get one of the best seats in the house, going behind-the-scenes at our events.
You won’t need any qualifications to start marshalling; we’ll help you with all the training you need, either at our annual training day or through pairing you up with a “buddy” at one of our events.

Scrutineer
Scrutineers are responsible for checking the mechanical state of competing vehicles in terms of compliance with the regulations – ensuring fair play – and general safety. These are technical roles, suited to those with an interest in engineering and mechanics.
Prior engineering and mechanical experience is helpful for those wishing to get involved in scrutineering but not essential; modular training through Motorsport UK is available for all stages of progression.
