New Fiesta ST Challenge Class

We’re really pleased to launch the new Fiesta ST Challenge Class for 2019 which aims to make experiencing the power and thrill of racing a high performance Fiesta ST race car more accessible. The Challenge class utilises slightly different regulations to the main Fiesta ST Cup – such as mandating bolt in roll cages over welded cages – that enables the build costs to be lowered substantially, without compromising the driving experience.

Over the past couple of months, the Fiesta Championship representative – Hamish Smart – and Paul Curtis, of PCR Motorsport, have been working hard in conjunction with the club to develop the new series. Commenting on the announcement, Hamish said:

“We have been conscious for some time that Fiesta ST race cars have been expensive to build, and although there are nearly always National cars available for sale, these are always down south. With a standard ST now so affordable, we have created a package of parts and build regs that mean we can now build a brand new race car for this new series so much cheaper than was ever possible before.

It’s a super-exciting development for Fiesta racing in Scotland, and we hope that this will bring brand new people to our grid. The Challenge cars will feel like proper little race cars too, just like their Championship rivals!”

The new Challenge class will race alongside the main ST Cup in 2019 across 6 rounds at Knockhill and one away round at Kirkistown, in Northern Ireland. The opening round of the season kicks off at Knockhill on 7th April.
