2026 Calendar Announcement

The Scottish Motor Racing Club are delighted to announce their 2026 racing schedule which includes diverse plans bespoke to each of the Club’s four Championships, the introduction of a new Series for Historic Modsports & Special Saloons plus an increased number of ‘away rounds’ and live streaming.

Commenting on the schedule, the Club’s Competitions Director Steve Burns said “we recently surveyed our registered drivers regarding their calendar preferences and have tried to accommodate the majority of requests, whilst considering the associated costs to keep racing with the SMRC as affordable as possible”.

Scottish Classic Sports & Saloon Championship / Historic Modsports & Special Saloon Series

Following a successful partnership with the Historic Modsports & Special Saloon Series which guested alongside the Scottish Classic Sports & Saloon Championship at Cadwell Park and Croft this year, the Series will formally come under the SMRC umbrella for 2026.  Series Promotor Steve Watton commented “The natural amiable and generous nature of the Scots off track as well as excellent driving standards and cars, which fit into our performance envelope, provided us with a temptation to experience more”.  Sharing grids with the Scottish Classic Sports & Saloon Championship, a 5-round calendar of classic & historic themed race meetings has been put together kicking off on the full Silverstone Grand Prix circuit in April followed by a headline feature at Knockhill’s Classic weekend in May.  July takes in the highspeed Thruxton Retro event in Hampshire before the racers head north again to support the Croft Battle of Britain race meeting in August.  The Historic Modsports & Special Saloon Series season concludes in September at Castle Combe for the Autumn Classic.  Keeping with these classic themed events, the Scottish Classic Sports & Saloon Championship will have additional home races at Knockhill to round out the year, firstly supporting the Classic Sports Car Club’s race meeting in September with an invitation to also take part in the inaugural night race before the Scottish Championship season finale in October.

Scottish MINI Cooper Cup

A variety of circuits and additional live streaming are key to the Scottish MINI Cooper Cup schedule which begins at Cadwell Park in April with the BARC.  May sees the Championship again support TCR (UK), this time at Croft, and a return to Kirkistown in Northern Ireland at the end of the month.  July features the opening round of the ‘Knockhill Cup’ with the Championship returning to Knockhill one month later in the anti-clockwise direction supporting the Caterham Festival.  August includes a visit to Donington Park, which last featured on the Mini Cooper Cup calendar in 2016.  The 2026 season will conclude on home soil at Knockhill in October.

Scottish Fiesta ST Cup

A new ‘triple header’ feature event with a partially reversed Race 3 grid on the Knockhill anti-clockwise track configuration plus an away round across the Irish Sea to Kirkistown will spice up the racing for fans of the Blue Oval.  The season will open at Knockhill in April with the first of two anti-clockwise direction race meetings.  Following support for Knockhill’s Classic event in May and a repeat of the Clockwise layout in early July, the Fiesta’s will head over to Kirkistown at the end of July for two races with the Irish Fiesta Zetec’s.  September will feature the second of the anti-clockwise Knockhill events but this time 3 races are scheduled, before the season concludes in October.

Scottish C1 Cup

Maintaining the mantle of Scotland’s (if not the UK’s) most affordable racing championship the Scottish C1 Cup keeps to its roots with a 6-event calendar based exclusively at Knockhill, albeit using the anti-clockwise configuration on two occasions.  Following the anti-clockwise season opening in April, the C1 Cup takes in clockwise running in May and July before supporting the Caterham Festival in August for two live-streamed races on the clockwise layout.  September features the second of the anti-clockwise meetings, and like the Fiesta ST’s this event will consist of a triple header 3-race format.  The C1’s are joined by the other Scottish Championships for the season finale in October.

The full schedule is detailed below (click on the image to enlarge), all details are correct at the time of publication and whilst we have no plans to make any calendar changes, please understand that October is early to be releasing a calendar. All dates remain provisional and therefore subject to change by any circuit, at any time.
