2025 Awards Dinner
Club Members, Champions, Family & Friends and Special Guests donned their finest dinner suits and ball gowns and assembled at Glenbervie House in Stirlingshire on Saturday 22nd November 2025 for the Scottish Motor Racing Club’s annual awards ceremony, hosted by Knockhill Commentator, Robert Johnson.
Event Organiser and SMRC Chief Marshal Alan Barron introduced proceedings with a welcome video from Club Chairman Nic Boyes, before guests enjoyed a delicious three course meal.

Following dinner, guest speaker Joe Tanner from Rennat Design explained how his career had begun racing Minis with the SMRC through to the BTCC supporting JCW Class, whilst working as an Instructor at Knockhill and founding Rennat Design into a world leading race helmet design and painting business which has now expanded into a one-stop-shop for racewear via their brand new showroom in the Knockhill Paddock, at which Joe was delighted to announce a 10% discount for all SMRC Members purchasing from the shop.

The Championship award winners were then called up to receive their hard-fought trophies, which included a special presentation to Fiesta stalwart Peter Cruickshank who recently retired from racing following a long, successful and uninterrupted career racing Ford Fiesta’s (both XR2 and latterly Fiesta ST) with the SMRC.

Motorsport UK Technical Director Ian Smith, and PR & Communications Manager Charlotte Mackenzie spoke about the work of the Sport’s Governing Body, including development of new technologies and praised the SMRC for developing the EcoRally Scotland event and delivering the first FIA International event in Scotland for 14 years. Ian remained on stage to present the Club’s prestigious discretionary awards beginning with the SMRC Special Award which was presented to Club Member and volunteer Official, Richard Crozier for his services and tireless work as Clerk of the Course for the EcoRally event.

C1 Cup competitor Liam Kelso was the worthy recipient of the Sheila Whyte Trophy awarded to the most promising young driver.

Kate Haston was awarded the Duncan Fisher trophy for her lifelong dedication to the SMRC as part of the Race Control Officials team.

Hannah Chapman won the Supersports Cup awarded to a driver who began their racing career with the SMRC but has gone on to succeed in GT / Sportscar racing, in recognition for winning the 2025 Porsche Sprint Challenge Clubsport Am Championship.

Fiesta ST Cup double champion Gerry Hendry (right) was the SMRC Volunteer Marshal’s choice for 2025 Driver of the Year.

All winners were then invited back to the stage for a group photograph before Apollo Events got the after-party started with dancing into the small hours.
