2020 SMRC Open Day
Did you know you can go motor racing in Scotland? Come visit to find out how!
We’re running an open day at Knockhill Racing Circuit on Sunday the 16th February for anyone who is interested in joining us in 2020. With track time, passenger rides, information packs and the opportunity to try the club simulator, it’s the ideal opportunity for existing drivers to get back behind the wheel and for newcomers to get a taste for the action and find out how they get their own racing journey started.
Track Sessions
Whether you are a seasoned racing veteran or a complete newcomer to track driving, the Open Day offers a great opportunity to blow away the cobwebs and get into the groove for 2020.
There will be two opportunities to get track time on the day; a test session specifically for racers (9:30 – 11:30) where there will be sessions for single seaters / Legends and a mixed sessions for all our saloon classes. There will also be an open track day session for road cars and saloon race cars in the afternoon (12:30-16:30).
Both sessions are bookable through Knockhill direct and are priced £75 and £135 respectively:

Coaching
In car coaching is available on the day from a member of our coaching team. If you would like further information on pricing and availability, contact our head coach Malcolm McNab on malcolm.mcnab@smrc.co.uk
Note, for our younger drivers who do not hold a road licence, the morning test session offers a unique opportunity for you to get some in car coaching.
Simulator
Our club simulator will be available for people to try; we’ll have a lap time competition running, so bring your game face along!
Go Motor Racing Info and Passenger Rides
If you’re interested in joining us this year – be that as a driver, marshal or spectator – this is the perfect opportunity to pick up some information, speak to club representatives, drivers, coaches and teams to find out how you can get involved in the fun filled, adrenaline packed, racing scene, here in Scotland.
You can also get a first-hand insight into track driving, with a thrilling passenger ride around the undulating Knockhill circuit, with one of our current drivers.
It’s free to come along, get a passenger ride and pick up some information. To get involved, simply:
- Register your interest with us below
- Arrive at Knockhill Racing Circuit anytime on the day. Test sessions run between 9:30am and 11:30am, with passenger rides available from 12:30.
- Visit Scottish Motor Racing Club hub – which will be positioned in the main paddock – where you will be able to:
- Sign up for a free passenger ride
- Pick up one of our championship brochures
- Try our simulator
- See some of the 2020 competition cars up close
- Meet club representatives, coaches, drivers and teams to find out how you can get your own racing journey started
