Scottish Mini Cooper S (R53) CupBack to May 2018
This is the 2nd season for these quick supercharged Mini Cooper S cars, running with Racing Tyres and a few extra modifications. Former Mini Cooper and Fiesta saloon car champion, Oliver Mortimer was unbeatable last season, winning every round, as he won the first Cooper S Cup. In April we had their biggest grid yet as 5 cars race with the modified Saloons and Sportscars. Oliver Mortimer won the class in both races. Race 1 he was 6th overall on lap 1 in a 13 car grid with Paul Wilson in another Cooper S close behind. Wilson stayed within a second of Mortimer until late on, when Mortimer eased away as the finished 6th and7th overall. Vic Covey jnr a former Mini Cooper Champion was 3rd in class, beating Fraser Jamieson and Stuart Buchan. Race 2 Wilson slipped past Mortimer at the hairpin as lap 1 ended, but Mortimer regained the class lead a lap later and had a second gap by lap 4 which he held until lap 8, then he eased away . Wilson was clear of the other Minis by then, though Covey retired mid race. Oliver Mortimer also set a new class lap record (57.449 secs).
