SMRC Esports Summer Championship
The SMRC are delighted to announce the continuation of our phenomenally successful eSports Championship using Project Cars 2 on PS4 and Xbox. The Spring events saw a huge amount of entries and provided great action and entertainment during this period of lockdown with no real on track action. We’re very pleased to say that Camber Media will be continuing to provide the streaming and production for all the qualifying heats and finals, which will be streamed via Facebook and Youtube. To enable us to continue to provide such a quality championship, there will be a small ‘Summer Esports Membership’ fee to cover the administration and production costs. This will be priced at £27.50 (or £20 for current fully paid SMRC members).
The championship will take place over an 8 round calendar at iconic tracks such as Silverstone, Monaco and Bathurst. Qualifying heats will take place on the Wednesday before each round to determine the drivers which make it through to the points scoring finals. All bar one of the events will be held in the fantastic Ginetta G40 GT5 race car; it has been tried and tested by the SMRC team and is tipped as the car to provide great close racing! Round 4 will be stand out event, held at the virtual Circuit de la Sarthe. At this race, drivers will take on a mini Le Mans 45 minute endurance event in the Aston Martin Vantage GTE car, where they will aim to emulate Jonny Adams 2017 victory in the famous twice round the clock race.
There are some great prizes on offer for the top 3 finishers in the championship too:-
1st – Knockhill Gold Pass & Torq Racewear Gloves
2nd – Track Scotland Trackday
3rd – SMRC Season Pass
