The Classic Sports & Saloon Championship is one of the more popular events held at SMRC, both mass production-based cars and limited production run cars take part in this championship. All vehicles taking part are split into 8 different classes, these classes are mainly for cars created up until the 31st December 1985. However, cars in Class F are for cars manufactured from the 1st January 1985 to the 31st December 1990.

All cars are subject to engine size and specification limits stated in the regulations. All rounds within this championship count towards the result. The 6 classes include A, B, D, E, F and G. Each class has different requirements; Class A – cars up to 1500cc engines. Class B – cars with 1501cc to 2500cc engines,. Class D – cars with 2501cc to 3600cc engines. Class E – cars with 3601cc engines. Class F – this is future classics which are mass production sports and saloon cars created between 1980 and 1985 with up to 3500cc engines and only two-wheel drive. Class G – cars that are limited production sports and saloons, this can be specials and recreations with normally aspirated engines and two-wheel drive only.

In addition 2018 will see the introduction of class C cars – Cars complying with FIA Appendix K and any other cars invited to compete at the discretion of the Organisers, which may include but are not limited to Classic Rally Cars. – to allow and even wider variety of cars to compete in the competitive series.

The traditional SMRC XR2 championship will also find its home in our classics grid, and give this exceptional one make series a new lease of life being the only classic one make series available in Scotland.
